Ed Sheeran collaborates with Hanumankind, Dheema, Santhosh Narayan
Ed Sheeran has collaborated with Indian rapper Hanumankind (HMK) on a new version of the song "Don't Look Down". The track was released on the remix EP for Sheeran's album Play,
The song: "Don't Look Down" features Hanumankind alongside South Indian singer Dhee and composer Santhosh Narayanan.
Sheeran stated that he wanted the EP to represent South India and the Tamil language. He praised Hanumankind, Dhee, and Narayanan for their work in fusing their styles together.
Praising rapper Hanumankind, composer Santhosh Narayanan, and Dhee, he added, “Dont Look Down ft @hanumankind , @dhee___ , @musicsanthosh - I loooove HMK, and got the opportunity to meet him at Coachella and catch his show. I was obsessed with the energy and feel of it all. We connected then and have been speaking since about working together, then this came up. Santhosh is one of the greatest film composers, and also introduced me to Dhee who is such an amazing talent and voice. I wanted to represent south india on this EP and the beautiful Tamil language, and they have done such an amazing job fusing all of this together.”
Sharing his experience of working on Play in India, Ed penned a heartfelt note on social media that read, “Making and finishing Play in India was such a fun experience, but being there over the last decade touring and meeting local artists, ive been introduced to all types of music and cultures. I wanted to represent as much as I could on this EP, il give a rundown below (sic).”
