Mumbai Air Travel at Lower Costs: The Benefits of Navi Mumbai Airport
With the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) becoming fully operational, traveling to Mumbai and nearby cities like Pune has become significantly easier.
The highlight of this development is that travelers can fly to Navi Mumbai at lower fares compared to the primary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) in Mumbai.
Major airports in Kerala—Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kannur—now offer daily flight services to Navi Mumbai. In addition to IndiGo's daily services from Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kannur to Navi Mumbai, Akasa Air also operates daily flights between Kochi and Navi Mumbai.
Why Navi Mumbai?
The airport was constructed to alleviate the heavy congestion at the existing Mumbai airport. While Navi Mumbai is located approximately 25 to 40 kilometers from the main centers of Mumbai city, it is very close to Thane. Furthermore, it provides much better convenience for those traveling onward to Pune.
Expansion of Services
IndiGo, India’s largest airline, is launching over 30 new routes from Navi Mumbai.
* Key Connected Cities: Agra, Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Belgaum, Chandigarh, Diu, Kannur, Kolkata, Patna, Rajkot, Srinagar, Varanasi, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram.
* Flight Frequency: With this expansion, IndiGo will operate over 400 weekly flights from Navi Mumbai.
