“I am very happy. I have received the award for two of my favorite films. I consider this recognition a blessing from God,” said Sameera Saneesh after learning about the award news in Kochi.

This time, Sameera won the award for the costume design in two films, Rekhachitram and Bougainvillea. “Both films were of two types. Rekhachitram is from an old era. Bougainvillea was done creatively according to a special color tone. I am happy that both were noticed,” said Sameera.

“I cannot say that there was any challenge in designing costumes. But it is difficult to design costumes for an old era today. I faced a lot of difficulties in terms of the sketch. There are no shops where you can get old prints and fabrics. These were in the shops run by my grandfathers. But when the next generation comes, they will change them and make new fabrics. When I look for old shops in Kochi, in many places, everything has changed and new ones have come.'' Sameera says about the work she did for the sketch. ''The support given by director Jofin T. Chacko is also worth mentioning. He gave me complete freedom to read the script, take references and make clothes. ''

Sameera also said that Bougainvillea was a very creative film. ''Costume is always important in Amalneerad's films. I have worked with Amalettan before. The tone in his films is different. I enjoyed it very much'',

Sameera started learning tailoring during the vacation of the eighth grade at the insistence of her mother. The initial infatuation gradually turned into love. Later, she designed clothes in the advertising industry. Sameera entered Malayalam cinema with Aashiq Abu's film 'Daddy Cool', which was released in 2009. After 16 years in the field of costume design, Sameera Saneesh is an indispensable presence with about two hundred films and 3 state awards.

With the increasing number of fans of Sameera's costume design, Sameera has started a clothing brand in Kochi under her own name. The brand was started in 2023 when people called to ask for the skirt worn by Manju Warrier in the film 'Aisha'. Later, she has been continuously doing collections.The films that Sameera is currently working on are Akhil Sathyan's 'Sarvammaya' and Shaji Kailas's 'Varav'.
